Design for Manufacture and Assembly is a methodology for designing buildings, components and facades so they can be manufactured efficiently and assembled with minimal site work. It applies wherever complex geometry, repetition or off-site fabrication can compress programme and reduce risk on site.
We use parametric optimisation in Rhino and Grasshopper to test panelisation, tolerance budgets and kit-of-parts logic against fabrication and assembly constraints. The output is fabrication-grade geometry, machine instructions where relevant, and an installation sequence that engineers and contractors can build to.
